Today, we’ll be learning a profound and advanced practice from Bai Yin Qigong.
The Wisdom of Yin-Yang Balance: Why Do We Need to Nourish Yin When Yang Is at Its Peak?
Over the past few days, we’ve learned that Sanfu is the peak of Yang energy in nature. It’s the best time to replenish Yang energy and expel cold and dampness from the body. But today, I want to lead you to look at Sanfu health from a new perspective—one that separates ordinary wellness from masterful wellness: the art of nourishing Yin.
The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic says, “When Yin is balanced and Yang is conserved, the spirit thrives.” The healthiest state for the human body is a dynamic balance between Yin and Yang.
During Sanfu, Yang energy from the environment is at its peak—like a blazing fire. While that fire can help melt away internal coldness, if it burns too fiercely, it can also dry up the water in the pot.
That “water” represents our body’s Yin fluids—including blood, bodily fluids, hormones, and all substances that moisten and nourish us. During Sanfu, we sweat a lot, and with that sweat, we’re not just losing water—we’re losing our precious Yin.
Sweat is known as the “fluid of the Heart,” and excessive sweating can damage the Heart Yin. At the same time, the body consumes a lot of Kidney Yin to cope with the extreme heat.
If during Sanfu we only focus on boosting Yang and releasing heat, without also replenishing the Yin fluids being consumed, we risk creating a severe imbalance—Yin deficiency with excess fire. This leads to symptoms like:
- Dry mouth and throat
- Heat in the palms and soles
- Irritability and insomnia
- Dizziness and ringing in the ears
Not only does this make Sanfu extremely uncomfortable, it also sets the stage for accelerated aging and long-term illness.
EnerQi Advanced & Turtle Longevity Technique: Deep Nourishment Through Stillness
To address this, we need a method that deeply nourishes Yin even during the height of Yang. Today’s practice—“EnerQi Advanced & Turtle Longevity Technique”—is the perfect answer.
In Chinese culture, the turtle symbolizes longevity, stillness, and internal conservation. In the Five Elements system, it corresponds to Water and represents our Kidneys, the source of all Yin in the body.
This form features slow, deep, and fluid movements. Unlike other Qigong styles that emphasize strong outward Yang flow, this practice teaches us how to gather and store energy.
When practicing, we take on the turtle’s spirit—drawing the floating Yang energy caused by summer heat gently back inward, into the deep core of our body, especially the Lower Dantian (our energy reservoir).
Today, I invite you to practice with this mindset:
Visualize yourself as a thousand-year-old sacred turtle, moving slowly and steadily. Every movement is like gentle rain watering your withered “tree of life.”
Your breath should be deep, long, fine, and even—allowing this clear Qi to flow through all your organs, moistening every bone and muscle.
Sanfu Is the Perfect Time for “Root Nourishment at the Highest Level”
Practicing Yin-nourishing Qigong at the height of Yang energy may seem contradictory—but it actually reflects the highest wisdom in health cultivation.
We use the strong Yang energy of nature as a driving force to more efficiently distribute and transform the Yin fluids replenished through our practice—storing them as Kidney essence, the foundation of vitality.
If all you do during Sanfu is rely on air conditioning and cold drinks, you may feel temporarily comfortable—but you’re essentially draining the lake to catch fish, depleting your core vitality.
But today, if you can quiet your mind and fully immerse yourself in the subtlety of Great Goose & Long-Lived Turtle, you will gain:
- True inner peace: With ample Yin, heart fire naturally calms. The inner restlessness fades, replaced by a profound sense of calm and stability.
- Deeper life energy: Your vitality won’t just appear strong on the surface—you’ll feel more grounded and resilient from the inside out.
- Potential for reversing aging: With continued practice, you’ll notice smoother skin, shinier hair—direct signs that your internal Yin is being replenished.
Over these past few days of Sanfu online group practice, we’ve progressed step by step:
- From expelling cold and damp
- To harmonizing the organs
- To today’s highest level of Yin nourishment and root restoration
I hope you’ll stay close to Master’s guidance and complete this journey of deep transformation and health.
Now, let us embody the turtle’s spirit, quiet our minds, and begin today’s “EnerQi Advanced & Turtle Longevity Technique” practice.
