White Dew Arrives, Autumn Dryness Begins — Align with the Season, Nourish the Lungs, Strengthen Qi
Bai Yin Lecture Hall – Highlights from the September 6, 2025 (Saturday) Group Practice
Welcome to Bai Yin e-Lecture Hall
Dear students, I’m Master Bai Yin. Welcome once again to our sanctuary of wellness and practice. Today, I’d like to share with you the key seasonal insights I offered to students at the in-person group practice on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
We are now entering the “White Dew” (Báilù) solar term, the third solar term of autumn in the traditional Chinese calendar. White Dew marks the real shift towards cooler weather. As the ancient saying goes: “From White Dew to Autumn Equinox, the nights grow colder with each passing day.”
During this time, mornings and evenings feel noticeably cooler, and dew condenses on leaves and grass — a reflection of autumn’s changing energy.
The Natural Energy of White Dew & Its Effect on the Body
In nature, White Dew represents contraction and gathering. Yang energy recedes while Yin energy grows stronger. For our health, this means we must adapt to the season’s dryness (qi of autumn) and its inward-gathering quality.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, autumn dryness most affects the Lungs.
The Lungs are considered the “delicate organ” — they thrive on moisture and suffer from dryness. When autumn dryness harms the Lungs, symptoms may include:
- Dry mouth and throat
- Dry or itchy skin
- Cough with little phlegm
- Constipation
Because the Lungs also govern the skin and body’s protective Qi, their health directly influences our complexion and immunity. This is why the seasonal focus for White Dew is:
👉 “Nourish Yin, Moisten Dryness, Strengthen Qi, and Protect the Surface.”
Qigong Practice: The Natural Path to Wellness
Qigong offers us the perfect way to harmonize with nature and care for body and mind.
1. HarmonyQi Stress-Relief Technique
- Focus: Relax body and mind, cultivate smooth, deep breathing
- Seasonal Benefit: Moistens the respiratory tract, expels turbid Qi, draws in fresh Qi — the foundation for resisting autumn dryness
2. EnerQi Five Elements Technique
- Key Practice: Tiger Form, corresponding to Metal element and the Lungs
- Seasonal Benefit: Expands and regulates Lung Qi, enhances descending function of the Lungs, clears the meridians, distributes body fluids to nourish the skin and hair
3. YoungQi Anti-Aging & Rejuvenation Method
- Key Practices:
- Qi Absorption: Inhale the pure morning air to replenish Lung Qi and nourish Lung Yin
- Purging Exercise & Mist Exhalation: Release inner heat and dryness, keeping the body clear and balanced
Special Reminder on Physical / In-Person Group Practice
If you missed the White Dew group practice, it’s truly a pity! Physical Group Practice allows you to:
- Receive direct guidance from Instructors/Teaching Assistants
- Experience the powerful collective energy field created in group practice — something individual training can’t replicate
Practicing together during this seasonal shift is especially valuable, helping us align with autumn’s energy and strengthen our defense against dryness.
Key Tips for White Dew Practice
When practicing any method during this season, keep these principles in mind:
- Breathing – Deep, slow, even. Inhale fresh, moist Qi into the Lungs; exhale turbid Qi out.
- Movements – Gentle, relaxed, rounded. Favor inward gathering over outward dispersion.
- Intention – Visualize nourishing moisture flowing through the body, as if bathed in sweet dew.
Quick Reference Table
| Practice Method | Seasonal Focus | White Dew Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| HarmonyQi Stress-Relief Technique | Deep, soft breathing | Moistens respiratory tract, clears turbid Qi, absorbs fresh Qi |
| EnerQi Five Elements (Tiger Form) | Metal element ↔ Lungs | Expands Lung Qi, strengthens descending function, clears meridians |
| YoungQi Anti-Aging & Rejuvenation Technique | Qi Cultivation Technique, Detoxification Technique, Qi Amplification Technique | Nourishes Lung Yin, replenishes Lung Qi, clears internal heat |
White Dew Wellness Summary
White Dew signals the true arrival of autumn. In nature, Yang energy declines and Yin grows, while our bodies must guard against dryness that easily harms the Lungs. Healthy Lungs mean radiant skin and strong immunity.
Through Qigong practice, we can align with the season and protect our health:
- HarmonyQi moistens the lungs
- EnerQi’s Tiger Form regulates Lung Qi and strengthens resistance
- YoungQi Anti-Aging & Rejuvenation Method replenishes Lung Yin and clears dryness
With mindful breathing, gentle movements, and focused intention, we nurture body and spirit, staying balanced through seasonal change.
