Day Five: Turning Toward the Sun – A Guiding Light
Dear Virtuous Technique (Da Cheng Gong) students and every cherished member of the Bai Yin family, greetings to you all.
Time flies, and our “LotusQi Blessing Group Practice” has quietly reached Day Five. Over the past four days, we’ve experienced the sprouting of hope, the cleansing of body and mind, the rooting and stabilizing of inner strength, and the blossoming and sharing of life’s joy. At this point, do you feel your heart becoming clearer, your energy flowing more freely, and a deeper sense of certainty and passion for life emerging?
Today, we gather our hearts around a theme full of hope, guidance, and infinite possibilities:
“Turning Toward the Sun – A Guiding Light.”
The lotus possesses a unique and admirable quality — it always turns toward the sun. Whether in the brilliant glow of sunrise or the gentle radiance of sunset, whether under a clear blue sky or amidst a cloudy, rainy day, the lotus flower unwaveringly and steadfastly follows the direction of the light. It never gets lost. It never gives up. To the lotus, the sun is the source of its vitality, the painter of its radiant hues, and its clearest, most reliable guide in the vast pond.
In the “Three Core Lotus” stage of the LotusQi Heart-Nourishing Method, we practice the “Upper Core” movement. The accompanying mantra instructs us: “Open both arms, lean the body back,” and then “Gaze up at the boundless sky.” This posture mimics the lotus’s unwavering orientation toward the sun — opening our hearts, stretching upward, and proactively connecting with the purest, most radiant, most life-filled energy of the universe. It’s not just a physical movement, but a spiritual orientation — a pursuit and connection with higher wisdom in life.
On our life journey, we often need this kind of guiding light. When we feel lost, confused, or uncertain about the future; when challenges cloud our way like “dark clouds blocking the sun,” leaving us discouraged and powerless — the longing for light, the search for wisdom, and the yearning for truth, goodness, and beauty become the power that leads us out of darkness and into renewal.
Qigong practice — especially the LotusQi Heart-Nourishing Method — helps us clear the fog in our hearts, polish the dust-covered mirror of the mind, and light the ever-burning lamp of inner wisdom. It realigns the compass of our life. It teaches us that even in the darkest times, we must believe in the existence of light and strive toward it. More importantly, it shows us how to awaken the light that already resides within us.
Today’s practice invites us to deeply feel the light energy from the universe and from our innermost being.
With each inhale, imagine drawing in the brilliance of the sun, the wisdom of the cosmos, and unconditional love — nourishing every cell and igniting every thought.
With each exhale, gently release the shadows, confusion, anxiety, and negative imprints — returning to our innate purity and radiance.
Let our hearts, like the lotus, always turn toward the positive, the wise, and the loving. Let this light — both within and around us — become the warmest, most reliable guide on our path forward.
Please bring a heart that seeks light, yearns for wisdom, and is filled with positive energy as we begin today’s LotusQi Heart-Nourishing Method. Let light guide each of our steps, illuminate our life journey, and help us become a light in someone else’s life.
The Power of Collective Blessing:
Why do we bless? How do we bless?
To bless is to light a lamp with our hearts and ignite it with our wishes, illuminating the path we walk together.
The power of collective intention can work miracles — it gathers even the smallest rays into a torch that dispels darkness.
Today’s fifth line in our LotusQi Blessing Mantra is:
“May every heartfelt wish feel this care; may every friend draw courage and hope.”
Why do we bless this way?
This sentence is full of warmth and deep empathy. It expands beyond individual blessings — extending to every wish and every friend. It acknowledges the unique value of each desire, no matter how small, as worthy of care and tenderness. It also reveals two goals of blessing:
- Care — so each person feels they are not alone, but supported by a warm and steady presence.
- Courage and hope — which are the most precious inner resources when facing challenges.
How do we bless the world?
Today’s focus is on blessing the world. As you recite the mantra, guide your mind this way:
- Expand your heart and connect with the world:
Broaden your awareness from self and family to community, nation, and the entire world. Feel your connection to all living beings. - Perceive the world’s wishes and pains:
See the genuine care from everyone — some are praying for those suffering from war, hunger, or illness, hoping they find peace and dignity;
some wish to help address environmental crises, restoring the Earth’s vitality and beauty;
others yearn for greater understanding, respect, and inclusion between people and nations — less conflict, hatred, and division. - Send care to every wish:
Visualize the energy of our collective care shining like warm sunlight upon every corner of the world — nurturing every sprouting or waiting wish, whether personal or global. - Infuse courage and hope into every friend:
Visualize our blessings becoming a continuous stream of courage and hope — entering the hearts of those in pain or despair. May they feel our distant support, regain faith in life, and find strength to overcome obstacles.
May this world be filled with peace and kindness — like a field of blooming lotuses where light dispels darkness, dissolves conflict, and allows everyone to live in serenity and hope, bathed in the harmony of sunlight.
