"Sitting on the couch all day or staying seated at the office for long hours, office workers often notice their belly becomes soft and flabby. A pinch of the waist and abdomen reveals excess fat, whether it's real weight gain or bloating. A protruding lower belly signals that the body's metabolism is slowing down, making it harder to eliminate excess fat and water.

Qi management expert, Master Bai Yin, points out that a protruding lower belly often hides a significant amount of visceral fat. Not only does this lead to weight gain control issues, but it also increases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and high cholesterol. Additionally, the risk of diabetes and gout also rises significantly.

The abdomen houses many vital organs, and it is also a common area where Qi and blood stagnate, and toxins accumulate. Master Bai Yin explains that when the pathways for transporting nutrients become blocked, the first system to be affected is the spleen and stomach’s ability to transform and transport. This leads to poor digestion, weak nutrient absorption, and even reduced ability to eliminate waste from the body.

Not only does excess water fail to be eliminated, but the food we eat also tends to turn into fat and accumulate around the belly. Simply put, when the body’s metabolism slows down and it cannot eliminate excess fat and water, it leads to weight gain and bloating.

Fat accumulation forms a protruding belly, and for many people, this is caused by internal cold that leads to bloating in the lower abdomen. This is especially true for women, whose lower bellies often become bloated and filled with excess fat. This condition is typically linked to internal dampness and cold, as well as weak digestive function. Many people love to eat cold or raw foods, which can easily cause dampness and cold to stagnate in the lower abdomen. Over time, this accelerates the aging of abdominal muscles, causing organ prolapse and making it difficult to reduce belly fat.

After eating cold or raw foods, the body activates a mechanism to store fat in order to maintain the temperature of the body and its organs. As a result, fat accumulates, leading to a thicker lower belly. For example, when a woman’s uterus is exposed to cold, it can lead to belly fat, often accompanied by symptoms such as a cold waist and abdomen, cold hands and feet, fatigue, or even menstrual pain and irregular periods.

Master Bai Yin explains, "The solution is to warm up the belly. Once the uterus is no longer cold, excess fat can be more easily eliminated."

The Annoying Lower Belly Fat: Why Dieting Alone Isn’t Enough
Despite frequent dieting, lower belly fat can be stubborn and often returns. Master Bai Yin believes that the key to successful weight loss is not only about eating less or shrinking your appetite—it’s more important to avoid cold and raw foods, reduce internal coldness, and improve the body’s ability to expel dampness and cold.

Master Bai Yin suggests incorporating a few minutes of qigong practice into your daily routine, such as the two main techniques in Bai Yin Contemporary Qigong, which show fast and noticeable results. The YoungQi Rejuvenation Techniques helps with self-massage of the internal organs. After practicing, you will likely notice an increase in burping or passing gas, which are signs that your spleen and stomach are starting to recover their function.

Another technique, EnerQi Dayan Techniques includes many movements that involve trembling the palms. Step 1.

Feet shoulder-width apart, standing parallel.

Step 2.

Raise both hands from in front of the body to chest height, then turn the body to the left and back. Bring both hands back to the waist, then rotate them along the waist to the right side, turning the body to the right and back. Extend both hands outward to draw a circle and return to the front of the body.

Step 3.

Repeat this 3 times on the left side, then 3 times on the right side. Finally, lower both hands and return to the standing position.
