Conquer Allergies and Thrive: Qigong for All Ages
Allergic conditions not only affect our daily life and work but can also lead to feelings of sadness and irritation. According to Qigong management expert Teacher Bai Yan, the key to improving allergic conditions is to properly nurture the spleen and stomach, enhance the body's ability to transform dampness, and thereby boost our Yang energy and increase our resistance and immunity. Qigong is an effective and natural method that can help regulate the body, mind, and spirit, offering significant benefits for those with allergies. Practicing Qigong does not require special locations or equipment; with just a little time and space, you can practice it anytime and anywhere. By persistently practicing Qigong, you will experience changes in your body, mind, and spirit. If you suffer from allergies or want to improve your health, consider giving Qigong a try! You'll discover that you can live happily even with allergies!

How Allergic Kids Can Improve Their Condition
The prevalence of allergies in children is related to genetic and environmental factors. If both parents have allergies, there is an 80% chance that their child will also be allergic. In Taiwan, about 50% of school-aged children react to at least one allergen. Common allergens include dust mites, pollen, pet dander, seafood, nuts, and medications. Allergy symptoms can include itching, rashes, asthma, and breathing difficulties, with severe cases potentially leading to anaphylactic shock.
To prevent allergies, the best approach is to avoid contact with allergens, but some, like sunlight and air, cannot be completely avoided. In such cases, it's essential to fundamentally enhance one's resistance and immunity, and Qigong is an effective and natural method for this. Allergic conditions are a common health issue, with many people experiencing varying degrees of allergic reactions. Zhang and Instructor Yuhua are two examples who started learning Bai Yan Qigong to improve their health conditions due to allergies.
Is Teeth Grinding in Children Really Caused by Allergies?!
Teeth grinding in children is a common phenomenon. Research indicates that 6% to 50% of children grind their teeth while sleeping, though it often disappears as they grow older. Allergies may be one of the causes of teeth grinding in children, but they are not the only reason. Allergies can cause problems in a child's respiratory system, such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing, which can affect the quality of sleep. This often leads children to breathe through their mouths, which in turn can cause teeth grinding. Additionally, gastrointestinal disturbances might also be a cause. If a child eats too much before bedtime or has irregular meal times, it can overload their digestive system, stimulating the brain's nerves and causing the chewing muscles to contract, which results in teeth grinding.
Master Bai Yin explains from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective that teeth grinding is actually a sign of excessive dampness. Excessive dampness means that the spleen's ability to transform dampness is impaired, preventing the proper conversion of food into Qi, blood, and bodily fluids, and instead leading to the accumulation of damp pathogens in the body. Parents often worry about their child lacking nutrition and want to ensure they eat well. However, if you observe closely, you will find that children who eat heavier foods are more likely to grind their teeth that night. This indicates that they are not digesting the food well, and it remains stagnated in the stomach. Thus, they reflexively grind their teeth as if trying to aid in digestion and transformation. Therefore, we believe that teeth grinding is related to a deficiency in the spleen and excessive dampness in the body.
Can Fruit and Vegetable Juices Improve Health? A Must-Read for Those with Allergies
Instructor Yuhua shares that she has had allergic conditions since childhood, with sensitivities to certain foods. Living by the sea and eating shrimp frequently, she often ground her teeth as a child and suffered from a severe case of "wealthy hands"[a form of eczema] in elementary school. Her palms would frequently shed skin, sometimes peeling off in large patches, leaving her fingers and palms completely peeling, which was very troubling. This situation persisted until after graduating from middle school, when suddenly the condition ceased. She thought she had finally overcome her allergy issues, only to find that during college, drinking a glass of stale egg honey juice with raw egg yolk triggered hives. Since then, allergies have followed her until she learned Bai Yan Qigong, which finally allowed her to truly overcome her allergy problems.
Master Bai Yin explains that allergies can have many causes, including self-attacks by the body or resistance to certain things. Allergies are actually the body's reaction to external stimuli, and if the body is weak or emotions are unstable, allergic reactions are more likely. Therefore, to improve allergic conditions, it is important to pay attention not only to diet and lifestyle but also to mental and emotional regulation.
Master Bai Yin also tells us that whether drinking fruit and vegetable juices is beneficial depends on individual constitution and symptoms. For those with strong Yang energy, drinking fruit and vegetable juices can provide vitamins and fibre, which are beneficial. However, for those with Qi deficiency and allergies, drinking too much fruit and vegetable juice can weaken the body further. This is because fruit and vegetable juices contain a lot of water and are cold in nature, which can deplete the body's Yang and warmth, making it more susceptible to cold and wind evils. Thus, for those with Qi deficiency and allergies, drinking fruit and vegetable juices can exacerbate the problem.
Initially Just Wanted to Help My Child with Allergies, but Discovered Unexpected Benefits for Myself
Student Zhang shares:
I am a school accountant with a son in sixth grade who has had allergic conditions since childhood. He often experiences nasal allergies and once developed allergic purpura due to a cold, and he also grinds his teeth while sleeping. Concerned about my child's health, I signed up for a parent-child Qigong course, hoping it would help improve his allergies. To my surprise, after just the first class, I witnessed a miracle.
I initially only intended for my son to practice Qigong and had no plans to practice it myself. When I first took my son to the class, I was actually quite sceptical. However, I noticed that he stopped grinding his teeth at night. It suddenly struck me that both my child and I could benefit from learning Qigong to regulate our bodies and emotions.
Seeing the potential benefits, I decided to continue learning alongside my son, and I ended up gaining substantial benefits myself. It turned out that I also had allergic conditions, which I hadn't noticed before. I used to get cold sores on my lips, had hives during pregnancy, and experienced post-nasal drip from colds, leading me to visit the ENT department almost every month. I also have a family history of high blood pressure, am facing menopause, and struggle with gynaecological issues and cold hands and feet.
Struggled with Throat Discomfort and Frequent Colds: How Qigong Improved My Health
In the past, I often felt like there was something stuck in my throat when I had a cold—something that wouldn't go up or down and was hard to pinpoint, just a general discomfort. To address this, I even took up swimming, thinking that perhaps my nose couldn't adapt to temperature changes, which might be why I frequently caught colds. Swimming involves breathing through the mouth and nose, training cardiovascular function. I hoped this might improve my lung health or boost my resistance.
I also tried various other health methods, such as taking supplements, probiotics, and drinking hot lemon juice. Although these methods offered some benefits, the effects were not significant and they required a lot of time, effort, and money. After practicing Qigong, I noticed a reduction in my allergic reactions, fewer colds, and less frequent visits to the ENT specialist, which saved me a lot of money.
The first system technique I learned was EnerQi Dayan; YoungQi Rejuvenation is the most beneficial, and the combination of both EnerQi and YoungQi being the most frequently practiced. The YoungQi Technique helped me manage menopause and gynaecological issues and also warmed my hands and feet. The greatest feeling I gained from practicing was "happiness," because good health brings happiness. However, we often carry a lot of emotional pressure or unspoken grievances. I feel that through these techniques, you experience a sense of physical, mental, and spiritual unity. This feeling is hard to describe with words; you can only truly understand its beauty by experiencing it yourself.
