Overcoming Autonomic Dysfunction: My 30-Day Qigong Transformation!

Initially, I planned to complete the entire Qigong course and thoroughly verify its benefits before sharing my experiences with friends and family. However, the sudden passing of Teacher Xing Jiahui yesterday changed my perspective. Her death reminded me of a story shared by Instructor Xiu Mei during coach training, which she recounted tearfully.

Instructor Xiu Mei was a teacher at the affiliated high school of National Taiwan Normal University. When she began practicing Qigong, one of her colleagues was diagnosed with early-stage cancer. She encouraged this colleague to practice Qigong with her, but he was sceptical and didn't join her. She didn’t push further and continued her own practice. One day, at a public Bai Yin Qigong Talk, a frail man approached her, saying, "Xiu Mei, don’t you recognize me?" After a moment, she realized he was the same colleague, now in the terminal stage of cancer, attending the talk in a desperate bid to learn Qigong. Sadly, it was too late for him.

Life shouldn't be lived with regrets that come from waiting too long to take action. I believe similar stories will appear in my life, but I strive to ensure that when they do, I will have done my best. Even if there are regrets, they won't be due to a lack of effort on my part. Master Yin Quan wisely said, “Waiting until you’re drowning to learn to swim is already too late!” This, combined with the persistent encouragement from my faith and beliefs, prompted me to share my journey, even though I am still learning and validating the benefits of Qigong.

I decided to adopt a "learn by doing and sharing" approach. While I might make mistakes and some beliefs might not be fully validated, there’s a chance that this practice could transform lives.

Diligent Practice of HarmonyQi to Improve Autonomic Dysfunction and Shoulder/Neck Stiffness

I’ve known about Bai Yin Qigong for over 20 years, but the timing never felt right to start practicing seriously. I explored running, brisk walking, and even tried yoga, but Qigong never seemed like the right fit. It wasn’t until mid-last year that I reconsidered. Perhaps it was my age or a significant turning point in my middle-aged life. My neck and shoulders had become so stiff that I feared I was developing a frozen shoulder, and my left arm couldn’t lift beyond a 45-degree angle. Additionally, due to either incorrect running posture or shoes, I frequently suffered from plantar fasciitis. More seriously, I often felt like I couldn’t breathe properly and had restless sleep, regardless of its duration.

I sought help from various clinics and received advice from friends on Facebook. Eventually, I was diagnosed with autonomic nervous system dysfunction, likely caused by stress, even though I didn’t feel particularly stressed. By chance, I met Master Bai Yin, who, after hearing about my condition, suggested I try practicing Qigong.


So, I gave up yoga, which I was only doing via an app and worried about incorrect postures causing harm. Instead, I started practicing Qigong. Despite significant changes in my family routine over the past three months, I’ve consistently practiced Qigong for less than 10 minutes daily (except during my menstrual cycle). My diet, sleep, and lifestyle haven’t changed much otherwise. Over the past year, despite an inconsistent exercise routine and fluctuating stress levels, I’ve noticed several clear improvements:

Plantar Fasciitis

The frequency of episodes has significantly decreased (I also changed my shoes).

Shoulder and Neck Stiffness

I can now lift and lower both arms easily without stiffness and rarely need massages.

Interestingly, despite past experiences of weight gain when my exercise routine became unstable, my weight has remained stable recently, even with occasional indulgences.

The most significant change has been in my sleep quality.

After being diagnosed with autonomic nervous system dysfunction, I started using an app to track my sleep, which provided numerical charts as evidence. Regardless of variations in my bedtime and exercise habits, my sleep quality has consistently improved. As a test, I intentionally skipped practicing Qigong for a few days or practiced it during the day without doing Sea Swaying Technique before bedtime. On those days, my sleep quality declined, even if I slept for more than 7 hours. The app clearly shows that practicing HarmonyQi has significantly improved my sleep quality.

I began practicing HarmonyQi in October 2018, and since then, I’ve practiced almost daily. Despite disruptions due to travel and work changes, my overall sleep quality has improved steadily, with room for further improvement. 🌙💤

Next Goals: Anti-Aging Rejuvenation and Healthy Weight Loss

The earlier I start accumulating health wealth, the better my reserves will be, allowing me to enjoy the benefits in later years. Even though my anti-aging effects might only reach a certain level, starting now is better than never. 🌟🙌
